Vaping is becoming one of the most popular and effective ways to use CBD.

In fact, Inhaled CBD tends to enter the bloodstream faster than most other forms — as quickly as 30 seconds or less!

These devices are usually discreet, budget-friendly, easy to use, and easy to maintain, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some basic things you should learn about vaping before jumping in.

This guide focuses on answering any of your questions regarding vape pens.

By the time you have finished reading it, you’ll be an absolute atomizer aficionado.

Read on to find out more!

What is a CBD Vape Pen?

A vape pen is a battery-operated device that heats a vape tank or cartridge to produce vapor.

Regardless of their design and appearance, they all function basically the same way. For instance, a cartridge, reservoir, or pod, which holds the liquid, is heated by an atomizer.

The result is a device that quickly and easily produces vapor from your choice of CBD oil.

While the parts of a vape pen can vary depending on the specific model you have, most have core components that are the same across devices:

The Battery

The vape battery is what makes the entire vaping process possible. It’s the heaviest part of the vape pen and usually has a 510 threaded connection to attach to different oil cartridges.

Some batteries will have a button that allows the user to turn the device on and off or adjust heat settings, while others have no additional features.

The Cartridge

The vape cartridge is what connects to the vape battery. Inside the cartridge, you’ll find your chosen vaping substance and an atomizer that will heat the oil to create vapor.

Most vape cartridges will have a connected mouthpiece where you can take hits of vapor.

Types of CBD Pens

There are two types of CBD vape pens: disposable and rechargeable.

If you are new to vaping, you might want to start with a disposable pen. They are straightforward to use and are typically relatively inexpensive.

Disposable Vape Pen

A disposable vape pen is an all-in-one unit comprised of an internal battery, a pre-filled tank, and a coil. They are neither rechargeable nor refillable and can be disposed of when depleted.

Rechargeable Vape Pen

Another popular option is rechargeable vape pens. These vapes typically use a 510-thread battery that the cartridge can screw onto.

Pre-filled cartridges usually hold about 0.5 to 1 mL of oil. When the cartridge runs out, they are replaced with a new one. After disposables, this is the second-easiest way to vape CBD.

How to Use a Vape Pen?

Most vape pens work in a similar, straightforward manner.

If you are using a CBD vape cartridge, the first thing you want to do is connect the cartridge to your battery. Usually, this means screwing it onto the top of the battery.

Once the cartridge is secured to the battery, power the device on and press and hold the button while inhaling.

The vapor is produced instantly, so as soon as you press and hold the power button, you’ll be able to take a hit right away, although it may vary depending on the thickness of your oil.

It is recommended that you wait about 5-10 minutes between puffs to observe how CBD affects you.

Once your cartridge is empty, unscrew it from your battery and toss it out.

If you have a draw-activated vape, you will skip any steps that involve a button. Draw-activated vape pens are activated when you puff on them.

They do not require you to turn them on or off and have no buttons to push.

They are the most accessible type of vape pens to use but offer fewer options in terms of functionality when compared to button-activated vape pens.

CBD Vape Pen: Optimal Dosage

Unfortunately, there is no “one-size-fits-all” dosage for CBD. It greatly depends on various factors, including the symptoms being treated, body weight, and tolerance.

Additionally, everyone’s metabolism and the endocannabinoid system are slightly different, which can yield unique results for each person.

A typical CBD vape cartridge containing 100 mg of CBD delivers about 1-2 mg CBD with each puff.

If you’re using a CBD vape pen or tank, you’ll be taking in a bit more CBD per puff, depending on your device and the strength of your CBD vape juice.

The best way to find your ideal dosage is to start low and slow.

Start with the minimal dosage of 1 to 2 mg of CBD and wait about six hours until your next dose.

Gradually increase your dosage each time by 5mg. Pay close attention to how you feel after each dose. It might not be noticeable right away or even overnight.

As soon as you experience positive effects, lock in that dosage and stick with it.

The average CBD user takes an average of 10-30 mg per day. For severe conditions like pain and inflammation, some users take as much as 200-1000 mg per day.

If you are considering vaping CBD oil to address a medical concern, talk to your doctor first.
